Sean Songs

It is with a mixture of fear and excitement that I embark on my first domestic shows. Three sets in as many nights in Halifax and Ottawa: The Carleton, Bruce Guthro’s Songwriter’s Circle, and then the infamous Black Sheep Inn (actually across the river in Wakefield Quebec). Not sure how often I will get to enjoy this great privledge (gbs drops another kitchen party classic july 13th) so I have resolved to indulge myself on this minor musical tour. The brave souls in attendance will be treated to my own personal favourites along with brand new “Bare Bones” material and even some works in progress. It’s been a long while since I have done anything without the help of my loyal crew and I really hope I don’t break a string or incur the wrath of the feedback god’s. I promise to deliver the most honest Sean shows I can. And I really hope you like me.

p.s. I may be nervous so please try not to look right at me.

  1. No fear. Positive vibes being sent your way. Have fun with it, no worries and do Keegan and Finn proud.

  2. If it helps, if you ever do a solo show in Seattle, I promise to convince all of the people I’ll bring with me to focus on a spot somewhere behind you and over your left shoulder. ;)

  3. Hi Sean,
I am so pumped to see your show tonight! Thank you for coming to the Carelton and hope that you have a great day!!!
    Pam

  4. it would be really nice to like you, here in Winnipeg, so don’t forget a solo show for us too, some day soon..preferably when I have not left town, eh.

  5. Hopefully by the time you get to Ottawa some of the jitters will be gone. If not, give us a sign and we will turn around;)
Cheers and hope you have a grand time!

  6. more virtual good vibes. if you’re nice to them i’m sure they can’t help but be nice to you!
    All the very best
    J.

  7. Sending along virtual good vibes as well. Quite sure it will be a fantastic evening and no worries about nervousness… you’re among friends… it’s all good.

See you down the road… Cheers!

  8. I promise to try not to look directly at you if you promise to play Montreal….ok that’s not a promise I’m likely to keep but I’d still like the chance to give it a shot :)

  9. Fear? Schmear!! Nothing to fear! Au contraire ~ those who come are happy for you, proud even at this excursion of yours. We can’t wait to see where it takes you and we want to come along for the ride. Montreal is a great idea – an easy hop from Vermont! Otherwise, I fear we will miss you on this jaunt. Not quite close enough … Future travels must allow for a solo stop here though. Have “your people” check out Higher Ground in So. Burlington, of course, (where you played with the band) but also the Chandler Music Hall in Randolph (C.Trapper has played there with success), Barre Music Hall in Barre, and heck, even the city hall theater in Montpelier. Any of these spots would fill for you! I’d personally work to spread the news. Relax and enjoy. And if people look right at you, try to imagine what kind of dog they have at home … to walk with in the woods. Cheers!

  10. You did great last night. One of the best solo shows I’ve been to in ages. As much as I enjoyed Fred’s and the Iota, last night was on a whole different level. Really good work, Sean. Impressive.

  11. Last night’s show at the Carleton was amazing. Halifax is lucky to have a venue like that and the stage was graced by your presence. I would go again tonight if I could. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

  12. OK. This is my third and final attempt to post a comment on your site; trying from a different computer this time. My previous comments just sit there “awaiting moderation” and never go through. I’m starting to feel a little rejected…

Anyway, please consdider “Pledge Music” as a way to release your latest project (www.pledgemusic.com). You get fans to make pledges, a portion of the proceeds goes to a charity you choose, and the rest pays for the album production. Pledgers then receive prizes based on their pledge amounts. Music with a social conscience. I’d support that.

  13. Sorry, just wondering why my post hasn’t past moderation? Didnt think it was bad.

  14. Wasn’t there but saw lynda’s video of WIsh. Touching. great song.

  15. I wish you well tonight Sean! Try to relax, be yourself & enjoy the evening & don’t worry about anyone looking at you. We all just love your music! You’ve earned your place on that stage. I would really love to have been at the Black Sheep Inn tonight to have seen your show. Take care.

  16. P.S. Just for the record, my date & time is June 11th, 7:58pm, not June 12th 5.55am. I guess that head crash left my computer in a whirl!

  17. Sean,

I heard Son of a Sailor and I have to say that is going to be a song I play often here at home. Vic is never happier as he is on the water. He feels that way for sure. God bless you for writing this.

  18. #2 comment continued–oooooo good things come to those who wait, and its ok if the whole band joins you when you come back to Winnipeg on October 24.
